Kuuki's crazy anime watchlist corner desuu~ #8

Usually I'd find something clever to introduce my bi-weekly recap post but you know what? I have no idea today so guess I'll just leave you with a spoiler warning, as usual.

Fall 2011 - Facing the end of Tiger&Bunny what will I watch?

While I admit the title is a bit over-dramatic (Come on self, you'll survive, you've survived the end of DRRR and the lack of your favorite character in it, you survived death of your favorite characters too, so there's no reason why I won't be able to get over the end of Tiger&Bunny, right? RIGHT?), the fact that the only shows I'll have the pleasure to continue next season are Gintama, Beelzebub and Mawara Penguindrum. Not that I mind, but that's not much, and I feel empty when some days (like thursdays) nothing new comes out.

So, what will I watch?

These are the things I can't miss (for various petty reasons) :

- Un-Go : I can only hope for Noitamina to finally bring me a very good mystery anime. Please?
It should right? The original author is good. So maybe?

- Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon : Depending on the end of Tiger&Bunny I may or may not have lost all hopes in Sunrise by the time this airs but, it has a good cast and a kind of Sengoku Jidai setting in modern times.
I should enjoy this.

- Persona 4 : It seems, I've been one of the only person on Earth who REALLY enjoyed Persona : Trinity Soul so, more? Yes please!
And everyone who played is super excited, and since I never played I won't complain about the adaption. It's a win/win type of situation. (Well, except if it's bad ^^)

- Working!! : Yamada loved the first season to bits. Yamada even recently rewatched it when she heard about a second season.
Yamada is overjoyed!

- Sekaiichi Hatsukoi : Don't ask. It wasn't as half bad as I'd have expected it to be. I enjoyed it enough to keep going. If worse comes to worse at least I'll laugh at the animation.

- Phi Brain - Kami no Puzzle : Or, how Sunrise may or may not be the death of me. I shouldn't expect much from this but the setting interests me enough. The fate of the world reside in a puzzle my friends!

- Mirai Nikki : Liked the manga. Should be enjoyable enough.

- Bakuman 2 : We're entering the interesting part. Mainly, Hiramaru.
Hiramaru means more Yoshida-shi. Yoshida-shi is my favorite character. (When I say I'm cursed, I'm not joking ^^)

-Gundam AGE : Well. It's a Gundam.

I will check but am a little bit wary (or, things with obvious flaws from the beginning)

- Guilty Crown : Noitamina + good cast = must watch.
Even though the plot seems like a mess and like they're trying to throw everything they can into it. (Please don't let it become another Sacred Seven fiasco because from the look of it, it's a Code Geass style dystopia, resistance group included, with a virus reminding me of Bloody Monday and a hero à la Kamijo Touma)
Also note that it's the first time a Noitamina thing is downgraded to this section, that shows how wary I am.

- Hunter x Hunter : Heard a lot of good stuff about the serie, the mangaka wrote Level E , it has Daisuke Namikawa, Sawashiro Miyuki and Keiji Fujiwara.
BUT, it's Jump. And that makes it a major flaw because it'll go very near the boring line for the first 25 episodes.

- Kimi to Boku : The title sounds like a cheesy romance thing, and it looks like a slice of life thing, which isn't my favorite genre either. But it has Toyonaga Toshiyuki so I'm willing to give it a shot.

- Tamayura hitotose : I love photography, I really do, but yeah I'll stay wary of slice of life things.

- Ben-to : Or Battle Royale in the supermarket. The plot is completely nuts but as I have seen girls with big breasts on the promo picture I'm not going to hope too much.

- Fate/Zero : I didn't like the previous installements very much but there's nothing I can do against Kajiura Yuki.

Kuuki's crazy anime watchlist corner desuuu~ #7

I think I'm a bit disappointed by this batch of anime. Don't really know why. On the other hand, it's still hot as hell and my laptop is so old it cannot handle more than one anime episode at a time. Must be why I'm so pissed off.

- Nurarihyon no Mago : Aaw FukuJun you're so good!
Rikuo you're making me laugh so much.
And Yukionna's gonna get pissed.

- Hanasaku Iroha : Aaw finally Okami-san makes her move!
But that was beautiful, her talk about not letting the other be alone was so beautiful.
Too bad that this is only something you can do when both party agrees to it. And I'm still not convinced by their couple ^^

- Ao no Exorcist : Despite being useless that was one of the most interesting episode in a while.
And the reference to Working! was really cute.
And Rin got the bunny plushie!

- Gintama : Please. No more Jugem.

- IkoMei : I can't decide if Camille is really mean or not.
But it would seem that I was right, she's in love with Claude.

- Natsume : Aaaw the shota fox is back!
And these episodes are always so adorable!

- Kami-sama Dolls : For once, I like Hibino. We don't understand exactly the same thing.
I miss Kuuko. I could have said the same thing about "the darkness in Kyohei's mind". Except I was convinced he took part in the slaughter in the beginning.
You know what? Thinking back, I would have liked it better if I was right.

- Steins;Gate : Fuck, this one was the most painful and sad so far.
Now, the great question is : will Makise betray them and go to CERN?

30 Days seiyuu meme #3 (Days 21-30)

And here comes the last part of that meme!

Day 21: The seiyuu with the most acting range
One of those girls who can do boys, so, obviously and once again Maaya Sakamoto

Day 22: The seiyuu with the least acting rangeDunno. Ah well, maybe Norio Wakamoto. But he can do GPS voice so ...

Day 23: Cool dude seiyuu
As in, I'd like to be their friend? Tsuda Kenjirou!

Day 24: A seiyuu you make fun of
That's really mean but Kondo Takashi
(Claude in IkoMei) Not that he's a bad actor, quite the contrary actually, but how he moves, talk, laugh and such, it's just ridiculous and exagerated, in the bad sense of the term.

Day 25: A seiyuu that makes you like any character they portray
There are a lot, and considering my tendancy to like all kind of characters, especially the most twisted and unloved, without the involvment of seiyuu I guess it doesn't matter much?
But if you really want me to tell then I'd say Hochuu Ohtsuka (because he does Davy Jones' voice in the Japanese dub of Pirate of the Carribean and since then I find him sexy. Yeah. Sexy.)

Day 26: A seiyuu you’d hang out with
Tsuda Kenjiro again!

Day 27: Best seiyuu match-ups
I'm not too sure I got the sense of the question so let's say it's as in : do a great job together.
Actually the first "match ups" I thought about were into fujoshi territory so I'll shut up and instead will tell you that I think Kana Hanazawa and Nakamura Yuuichi
were pretty awesome together in Oreimo.

Day 28: Best seiyuu match-ups, romance edition
SUZUMURA KENICHI AND MAAYA SAKAMOTO!
Come on, they're married! And everyone who watched Kara no Kyoukai was rooting for Mikiya and Shiki.

Day 29: Your least favorite seiyuu ever
Kishio Daisuke

Day 30: Your favorite seiyuu ever

Kamiya Hiroshi.

Kamiya Hiroshi

And overall, it would seem I talked on and on always about the same seiyuu, I'm really sorry, I love a lot more of them but these questions didn't cover a wide range. Sadly.

Tiger&Bunny #21 - Do you like Spandex?

And there I nearly thought I'd never get to make this post. Do you know how awful distractions are? Do you know of many of them there are? Worse of it all, and aside from the dreadful heat I'm facing at the moment, do you realize they've all been somehow related to Tiger&Bunny?
Before starting on the episode, and more, I have 3 facts I wanted to share.
1) I love the aftermath of Comiket. I really love it. Very much.
2) I love Tsuda Kenjiro too, very much. In fact I love all the radio shows that have to do with Tiger&Bunny, especially the ones with extracts of the character songs, which totally don't sound like them but are hilarious all the same Oh Baby I'm gonna save youuu
3) Don't you think raisins kinda look like Maverick's face? (and now you're never going to see them the same way anymore MWAHAHA!)

Anyway, back to the actual episode.
I honestly don't even know why I bother making a post about it because to be honest, I wasn't blown away. I mean, everything was more or less predictable.
While I have to admit I totally forgot about Ben (and I should have thought about him, I don't even know why I didn't after the mysterious disappearance of the preview pic), everything else went just as planned.

So, what's interesting in that episode in the end? I don't really know myself to be honest.
All I know is that it gave me incredibly conflicted feelings. The first (RAW) round left me giggling happily, the second round left me uneasy. Well, I still think Bunny will die so ...

On the other hand, Kotetsu finally came back to being himself, dumb but not too dumb. Dumb enough to be funny and not piss me off. This scene especially left me laughing for a few minutes.

Then the real shit happens and we get to meet the "new" Tiger, which is probably a robot.
Exactly as predicted Kotetsu almost got Karina to remember, almost because obviously it wouldn't be fun if they remembered now.
And, exactly as I predicted, Lunatic protects Kotetsu, gratifying us all about a wonderful talk about justice and ramblings about how he is the voice of Thanatos.

Then, more shit happens, while Kaede meets Maverick who affectionnaly pats her head and everyone but me was thinking how cool it was since now she has copied his powers (I was more thinking things such as "OMG OMG he's gonna abduct her, he's gonna abduct her")

All in all what really striked me in this episode is the general urgency. No one knows what he's doing, no one, but Kotetsu. Kinda, since well, it's Kotetsu.
It was an established fact before that Maverick's plan had a major flaw, the scale. (Its second being the fact he definitely wants Bunny to kill Kotetsu before the scale problem goes out of hands, and can he do it?)
With more time it would have been resolved, he could have gathered more people, he'd have thought of more people.
Ben too had no plan in mind, he was just looking for Kotetsu, Kaede's doing the same and see Lunatic? He's not wearing his cape, he was pressed by the time, he didn't bother. (Or he burnt it ^^)
It's a bit strange to see all these people normally calm to jump into things like that without thinking. I guess that's where my uneasy feeling comes from.

So, will Kaede saves the day next week?

Kuuki's crazy anime watchlist corner desuuu~ #6

Courageously facing heat and battling against my fate of a construction worker/mechanic/cook/couch potatoe, I bring yet another recap of what happened this week!

As usual, spoilers for Usagi Drop, No.6, Dantalian no Shoka, Utapri and Idolm@ster. And Kami no Memochou, which section contains potential spoilers for next episode. Yeah. I'm awesome like that.

Mawaru Penguindrum 06 : Dead but Alive.

I realized half way through my huge recap bi-weekly post that this was becoming too much, so Mawaru Penguindrum will have its separate post for once.
Beware for major spoilers and character over-analysis. About Ringo, I cannot really do that for the others, yet at least, but I'll be glad if you could at least read what I wrote about her and tell me your opinions?

We finally got a little more informations on the diary and how it works. On the other hand it also shed much more light on Ringo's character and yeah, I love her. And we still don't know the goal of that girl, nor anything really relevant to the Penguindrum. As usual, I'll throw theories out there.

*The diary was Momoka's, Ringo's sister who died a mysterious death, so, Ringo's fate is Momoka's fantasies from when she was in elementary school. She was an extremely precocious child but that's perfectly realistic and thus I accept this explanation. (Ok, that's because I had one too -___-)
That doesn't really give more informations on whether or not it is really the Penguindrum. Nor if it is the only Penguindrum.

*Ringo's family was destroyed over that death, which, once again, is perfectly realistic. And I understand her behaviour much better now. It's logical, her family is suffering because of her sister's death, her family puts her sister's death before her and she becomes almost invisible, or worse, a reminder of the one who's not alive anymore. So, since apparently she feels that her existence is so forgettable, she decides to become another person. Jealousy between siblings is common, fighting for your parents' attention is common, but, how do you compete with someone who's dead? You can't. Either way you'd loose.
So Ringo strives to become her dead sister, to make everyone happy, so that her family will love her and they'll be able to be happy together again.
Except, except that half way through, the focus changed. She wanted to become like her sister so much that she followed exactly everything as she wanted it to be in the future and she was a girl in love, a girl in love forgets everything else and that's how her parents ceased to really exist in her mind, becoming mere concepts.
Hence the plushies.
Want to know something? She needs help. Definitely.

*Is Kanba real? I mean, a previous episode already hinted that Himari was able to create illusions, so I wouldn't be surprised.
Or worse, does someone/thing want to make him disappear and make everyone believe he was an illusion?
Since that girl is getting rid of the memories of him in everyone (help, Maverick is everywhere!)
Maybe the price to pay for the mysterious penguin money he has been given is his existence itself. Bits by bits, with every cent he uses, he disappears a little more from the world?
He wasn't even there during the Seizon Senryaku.

*Last but not least Boshi-sama said something very interesting at the end, she said "another survival strategy"
Does she mean she wants to search for another way to stay alive aside from the Penguindrum?
Or did she mean there were others being like her doing the same?
(Also, hearing her talking about hentai like that and the emphasis on her crotch was priceless ^^)

To leave you with a funny note (See what I did there?) and a pic, which made me laugh despite everything said about Ringo ...

30 days seiyuu meme #2 (Days 11 - 20)

And here comes part 2!

Day 11: The seiyuu with the best singing voice
Toyonaga Toshiyuki! I'm actually at the point I'm starting to consider watching musicals just to hear (and see) him sing. (So he's the pretty megane boy, obviously. He voiced Mikado in DRRR too. The other one is Tsuda Kenjiro, the one who's hilarious. It's Tiger&Bunny's Fire Emblem. Actually, the Rebocons are pretty hilarious things, even if you can't understand Japanese, though it's even funnier if you can, even though it's staged)

Day 12: A seiyuu you have a crush on
None? If I ever do it'll be because I like their characters, so it wouldn't exactly be a crush on said seiyuu would it?

Day 13: The seiyuu you’d pick to play you
I think I'd pick Maaya Sakamoto, not only because it'd be fucking awesome but because I kinda act like Nino and I know she'd fit well. Or Marina Inoue just because we share our name XD

Day 14: Your favorite role from your favorite male seiyuu
How am I supposed to answer this? I think it's Itoshiki Nozomu from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. It helds a special place in my heart.

Day 15: Your favorite role from your famorite female seiyuu
I'll have to say Shiki from Kara no Kyoukai for Maaya Sakamoto.
And it'll be Kuroneko from Oreimo for Kana Hanazawa.

Day 16: The seiyuu with the worst singing voice
Nakai Kazuya. Sadly FukuJun too, though it's not that his voice is bad, it's just that it's too rare for him to hit the right tune, thus it hurts my ears. (Granted, that for some songs it doesn't show that much)

Day 17: The series with the best cast overall
Durarara!! I also think it's the first serie I've waited for so eagerly. As soon as the preview was out I was sold.

Day 18: A series you would not have watched had a seiyuu you liked not played a role in it
Uragiri wa Boku o namae wo shitteiru. Really. The cast was awesome and even with that I would have stopped after the first few episodes. I only kept on watching because I wanted to wait for Kamiya's appearance. It was this bad.

Day 19: The first seiyuu you remember liking
Sakurai Takahiro. All for the Dogs drama CD (which is also the first drama CD I ever listenned to and so close to the manga that it's an incredible way to learn Japanese)

Day 20: A seiyuu you don’t like as much as others do

Ono Daisuke. I don't dislike him per say but I don't adore him either. I'm pretty neutral about him.

Kuuki's crazy anime watchlist corner desuuu~ #4

Despite mourning for the lack of Mawaru Penguindrum this week, thus creating a really hard to bear lack of material for my brain to go crazy over, obviously not helped by the lack of Shonen Jump (I hope Amano will still be high by next week) I have to say that these were quite the interesting few days, anime wise at least.
(Also, can I take a moment to say that, really, the internet is amazing, I'm starting to remember the various hollidays of everywhere in the world, it's kinda nice, it's like I'm celebrating something everyday ^^)

And since I realized I probably should put a spoiler warning here you go, possible spoilers for Usagi Drop, No.6, Idolmaster and Utapri should be normally free of them (since nothing much happens anyway ^^), Dantalian no Shoka, KamiMemo and most of all Tiger&Bunny.

30 days seiyuu meme! Days 01-10

I've been sent that meme over at Tumblr so I thought I'd post it over there, you can never talk too much about seiyuu anyway ^^

Day 01: Your favorite male seiyuu

Kamiya Hiroshi!
Doesn’t it come as a surprise?
Strangely enough I fell in love with him when I first heard Itoshiki Nozomu, I bet it’s quite unusual ^^

Day 02: Your least favorite male seiyuu

Kishio Daisuke.
For no particular reason, I just really dislike his voice.

Day 03: Your favorite female seiyuu
Can I say it's a tie between Kana Hanazawa and Maaya Sakamoto
It's a shame Kana Hanazawa is mostly cast on cutesy roles because she's so awesome with that deep voice of hers (Kuroneko I'm looking at you!) and I was so impressed by the variety of ranges she displayed as Shiro in Deadman Wonderland. Aaw want more psycho!Hanazawa.
Maaya Sakamoto has even a wider range, she can do cute, she can do normal, she can do boys and the psycho kind too (damn, watch Hellsing Ultimate, she's only in the 4th episode, but damn, the presence <3)
They both can sing and they're both damn cute. So yeah, a tie!

Day 04: Your least favorite female seiyuu

Kobayashi Yuu, she's versatile too but her voice simply grates on my nerves, she should stick with voicing boys, my ears like that better.

Day 05: A seiyuu you’d watch in anything
Any of my fave? Well, except if it means I have to watch One Piece, there my friends I declare it's off limit. But aside from OP and overly long series I'd watch anything for the seiyuus I love. Which isn't a bad thing in itself, I watched a lot of things I wasn't overly interested in and ended up loving in the end.

Day 06: A seiyuu that always makes you laugh
Tsuda Kenjiro! That man is hilarious. Really, whenever I just hear him on free talks or see him during events he's always making me laugh, he's just so funny I can't help it.

Day 07: The seiyuu you recognize the easiest
Well, if I know their name I recognize them more or less instantly, because it means I heard them in a lot of shows before and am familiar with their acting and their different tones. But I tend to recognize the ones I like the less even better.

Day 08: the seiyuu you recognize the hardest
Normally I should be able to tell at least that I already heard someone somewhere, even if I can't always name them, so it's not exactly that I don't recognize him, actually I do, except for this show, it's just that my ears spent one season of SoreMachi looking for hints to decide if yes it was him as the Obachan (and I'm still not sure) so it'll be Sakurai Takahiro

Day 09: A seiyuu you’d rather not watch in anything
Let me take some times to decide who I hate more between Kishio Daisuke and Kobayashi Yuu and I'll tell you. Not that I have much of a choice though, they seem to be loved by everyone else so even if I don't like them I won't avoid a show I think I'd like.

Day 10: A seiyuu that creeps you out
It's more a problem of acting and of being cast pretty much everywhere as THE villain but Hayami Shou is creepy. Especially if you have watched Sengoku Basara where he voices Akechi Mitsuhide who's pretty creepy even when he doesn't speak (no wonder he's my favorite warlord of the period ^^), if he was only the villain that would be OK, but no, he has to be a villain who cries things like "Aaw feels good, again, again" while being killed. So yeah, now he's forever creepy.
(I'd actually recommend the first season of said serie for his character only ^^)

Kuuki's crazy anime watchlist corner desuuu~ #3

- Nurarihyon no Mago : That Itaku guy looks like Jake Sparrow -____- (which reminds me, I still need to find that movie with Davy Jones in Japanese.)
And I just wanted to throw to the world that I can do chores much better than Nura, chopping included.

- Hanasaku Iroha : Damn Minko and her lack of empathy.
I really liked Jiromaru trying to find titles for his novel by asking the girls. I actually like Jiromaru and his pevertness.
I miss the mean Tohru of the beginning though.
And I still wonder how anyone could like Yuina.

- Ao no Exorcist : It became worse than I thought it would be.
I really did like the beginning, turning Mephisto into someone even more twisted is always a good thing.
But, you see, last week I was complaining about the characters being so open about Rin's being the son of Satan and such, well, I grew used to it.
So, why is everyone helping him, then 5min later suddenly give him the cold shoulder? Why?
I honestly wouldn't mind the change that much if at least everything was coherent.

- Gintama : I think I have only one thing to say : how did this manage to get on TV at such an hour?

- Croisée : Did I understood things right? Is Camille really in love with Claude?
I feel sorry for her in any case though.

- Natsume Yuujinchou : Back to the manga!
Matoba's entrance and Natori's first reapperance of the season.
I couldn't be happier!

- Steins;Gate : Oh my heart, my heart.
Moeka surprised me though, I never thought she'd be like this, though I do understand where it comes from, I definitely thought she at least knew FB outside of text messages.
And I didn't think she'd believe Okabe either.
(As a bonus impression : I'm so cheering for Okabe and Kurisu to finally and properly confess instead of throwing hints here and there that Kurisu doesn't remember and Okabe is too fixated on Mayuri's death to care about. It pains me.)

-Kamisama Dolls : I'm not too sure what to think about this episode. Sure it was fun but as I thought there wasn't much point to them going there, they could have done all of this in Tokyo.
There must be something else.

Kuuki's crazy anime watchlist corner desuuu~ #2

Man, already the second edition, and goddamn long on top of that. Forgive me?

- Usagi Drop : TOMOE! The mother is Tomoe! Same voice, same look, thankfully not the same personnality but damn I was surprised.
I still don't know what to think about her, she's strange and probably not really able to properly take care of a child but she's not a bad person.
Once again I found it very realistic in the way of dealing with Rin's feelings, the whole thing about her wanting to keep her name and refusing Daikichi's proposal is spot on.
Once again and as usual Daikichi was adorable.

- Penguindrum : KOYASU TAKEHITO! There was Koyasu Takehito! I missed him so much!
Well, that episode raised quite a few questions, here are some of my random thoughts :
*Yuri might have a diary, either one of her own or one mirroring Ringo's so she'd be able to take action before she does.
*No matter how you look at it, this Aquarium is definitely suspicious. Everyone has been there, everyone bought a souvenir related to the penguins, so, is this is the great headquarters of the ultimate penguin conspiracy?
*Related to the previous point, that penguin symbol appears a bit too much to be a coincidence, you won't make me believe they're not related in some way or another.
*Are their parents's disappearance somehow related with the Penguindrum?
*Is the diary really the Penguindrum? I'm under the impression Boshi-sama wasn't very eager to get her hands on it when she could do so.

- No.6 : This made me hungry. Again. Honestly, don't name animals after pastries, especially if I happen to LOVE those.

- Idolm@ster : Are there people who blog about this? What do they write on their entries?
Nothing really happens but cute girls doing cute things, this week was at the beach.
Well, I still like this better than a failed attempt at plot.

- UtaPri : Oooh wuch an unexpected plot twist. *insert sarcasm here*
That and the fact that Miyano's singing ability seem to decrease at every episode.
Well I do like that kind of totally unrealistic personnality disorder so I won't complain that much. It was like having Shizu-chan in Utapri. Kinda nice.

- Dantalian no Shoka : Dalian is a fujoshi. A real one. She even wants to write fanfics now. I approve!
On the other hand, this was pretty interesting, blood and stuff like that are totally my cup of tea.
I'm still wondering whether or not there will be more to the plot than just this.

- Beelzebub : I absolutely hate Daisuke Kishio. Sorry.
But these new characters are kinda interesting and I like the girls (which is really rare in a Jump serie)

- KamiMemo : Want me to ramble a bit more about my love for Yondaime and his underlings, who are, in my opnion, all absolutely adorable?
I like Narumi more and more at every episode but my love for Alice decreases at every episode.
I do wonder what's going to happen now, especially since that Renji guy seems to be somehow related to the Yondaime.

- Tiger&Bunny : I'm depressed. I knew it would turn like that and it's no fun at all if it turns how I predict it.
BUT it raised more questions, who else did he use his ability on? Samantha obviously but what if he used it on the other company presidents? On the mayor(s)? On Yuri?
In any case shit will happen because there's no way the connection between him and Ouroboros decreased over the years, meaning my theory of "Ouroboros controls the city" is still valid!
And I'm damn sad whenever something happens between them, the timing sucked.
And Scarf-tan appeared twice! Is this a sign she's the real head of Ouroboros? Is there a clone army of Scarf-tans? (I don't really believe it but at this point it wouldn't even be surprising ^^)

Aaand to celebrate the lack of Sacred Seven to rant about AND the release of Stone Cold's single, have a song!

Creepier than Kyubey? Want Homura in your room too?

Quick post while waiting for Tiger&Bunny (which I'll miss, you can bet on family to choose to be annoying just at the right moment, it doesn't help that it airs right at the hour when I'm supposed to have dinner), I was browsing the internet, not looking for anything in particular, when I stumbled upon these dolls, coming straight from Madoka Magica.

Unfortunately it seems Kyubey is not included in this but if you click on that link you can see them in their school uniform.

As you may have guessed from the title and even if my favorite Mahou Shoujo is Mami, I wouldn't mind having Homura in my room.

Sometimes, annoying characters don't ruin a show : To Aru Majutsu no Index

Long story short, I started to watch To Aru Majutsu no Index one year ago or something like that, went through the 10 first episodes and then decided Index was too annoying for me to follow this.
How wrong I was.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows already and that I was one of the last to jump on the bandwagon BUT To Aru Majutsu no Index is, as you couldn't guess from the title, originally a light novel about a boy called Kamijo Touma who happens to be both very unfortunate (his words) and who's right hand is inhabited by a power called Imagine Breaker that can nullify pretty much every kind of magic and special ability.
Add to this the fact that he just cannot ignore someone who needs help, the first and bigger pain in the ass being Index, and obviously, it calls for troubles.

I was honestly very happy to see the incredible amount of easily recognizeable and easy to remember characters, not to mention the very important part played by Biribiri a.k.a. Railgun a.k.a. Misaka Mikoto (I LOVED her in Railgun)
As I already mentionned, I hated Index, I didn't particulary like Kanzaki or Stiyl but I didn't hate them either. I just liked it better when they weren't there.
To be honest I liked the anime better when it wasn't related to the various churches so I guess it's understandable.

Surprisingly enough I found Touma to be a good protagonist, you know, normally that kind of person throwing themselves into troubles and willing to do anything to save the world and such, they're pissing me off. Not him.
Probably because he's one of the few heroes who never ever gets a power boost.
Also got interested by Tsuchimikado, a lot, I'm really, really curious about him, who he is and such, but more than anything I want to know who he's spying for. If he really is a member of the Kamijo faction, , what the hell he's trying to do now. Everything. He's probably one of the most mysterious character of the show.

Last but not least, how about I ramble a bit about my favorite character?
I've been very surprised when I looked around but it would appear I'm not the only one to love Accelerator quite a lot. His character development was especially well done and he has an interesting personality. And he's voiced by Nobuhiro Okamoto, which I never thought would be so great.
And it's very creepy, even by my standards but he and Last Order are definitely too cute together.

This post is already too long and I haven't even started on the plot.
Well, it has a lot of different arcs, it covers quite the large range, some of them having to do with fighting against oddities, against bad magicians, against a church and its desire for power, it has light hearted dates, several slaughters (I like these ^^), cute moments, dark moments, complicated plots and simple storylines.
Which is why it's so great.

Now that I talked about my love for this show I shall depart, reading the light novel and silently wishing for a third season. (Or a second of Railgun, I won't be picky ^^)

Kuuki's crazy anime watchlist corner desuuu~ #1

I was told elsewhere that my daily (or nearly daily) quick reviews were helpful, if only for reminding people to watch a show or another.
To be honest, I've been trying for more or less one year to come up with a way of sharing episodes impressions without the need to do a full post complete with screencaps. These take time. I'm lazy.
So I think, considering the awful amount of things I watch, I'll do at least a bi-weekly review. Maybe even once every two days if I have the time, so things don't get too long. Because let's admit it, everyone's afraid of walls of text.

- Ao no Exorcist : What have they done with the manga I love? There was much more blood in the manga, and Amaimon was effectively sent back to the Gehenna and they definitely didn't react even close to this at the news either.
Oh well, next week goes back to the original storyline. Kinda.

- Hanasaku Iroha : Finally a focus on Nako. She's adorable.
I still don't understand how they manage to get along so well with Yuina though.
Still, I can't get over this.

- Ikoku Meiro no Croisée : Once again, Yune is adorable.
Every week, as a French, I feel like I should explain one thing or two, but, to me everything is normal, aside from the mistakes, so I never know what others might think strange.

- Nurarihyon : I loved this flashback arc very much, I'm sad it won't continue for much longer because the Supreme Commander was awesome! And very sexy ^^ Sorry but I do have some sort of girl side buried somewhere

- Gintama : Nothing much, your usual Gintama episode with a character commenting everything he finds strange in said episode. But it had Zura. And the Shinsengumi, sadly without Matsudaira.
And since they finished early they started next week episode, which looks like something I won't totally enjoy.

- Natsume : I never have anything to say about that show, it's never surprising but in a good way, the peaceful and heartwarming kind of way.
Even though this week was kinda gore, especially to Natsume's standards.

- Kamisama Dolls : This development is a bit unexpected. I don't understand why it's happening, I'm not exactly against it, if it means I can learn more, but I still don't understand. Guess I'll just have to wait until next week.

- Steins;Gate : I don't like Rukako's character. Does it tell you anything about my enjoyment of this episode?
Okabe was, once again, very awesome though.

See you hopefully on Sunday for the next installment!

Watching RAW or not watching RAW?

There's nothing better while waiting for your food than to write a blog post is it? To sum things up I'm dead hungry. I need a distraction. Which is why ... I won't write about food.
I'll write about watching anime RAW instead.
Don't get me wrong, I love the subs, I don't even mind dubs, if they're done right. (Though I still have some problems catching everything with English ones, but that has to do with the fact I don't practise enough)

Nowadays subs are out more or less within 10 hours after the first showing of the episode on Japanese TV. So why watch it RAW?

Because sometimes you're just too impatient?
To be honest, that's how it started to me. Everything because of this show :

You know that feeling when you just NEED to be next week already, that this cliffhanger is too awful to be true and such? That's how I was after each and every episode. So, obviously, the sooner I get to see the next installment the happier I was.

Second reason are spoilers. I hate them. With a passion.
Normally I avoid places where I could see them, in that particular case it was impossible. It's impossible for Tiger&Bunny too. As soon as it finishes airing spoilers are all over the place, some people are delicate, some are not, sadly.
(On the other hand, for Durarara, spoilers or not, I always ended up being surprised, even after the third watch so I guess it doesn't really apply)

And last, it really does help your Japanese comprehension improve. A lot.
It still depends on whether or not you're fast learner but it really does help.

On the other hand watching RAW comes with a few problems. Mostly, understanding it.
To be honest, I rewatch most of the shows with subs afterwards, except if it's really awful and/or I know the manga well enough to be sure I understood pretty much everything. Examples at hand Sacred Seven for the first and Deadman Wonderland for the second.

So, do you watch some anime RAW or not? And why?
